SHARK SCIENCE AND EDUCATION
The SASC team works tirelessly to promote better understanding of sharks through our programs, engaging with local communities, students, special education groups and our global social media platform. Our goals are to dispel myths about sharks, cultivate a sense of stewardship for the oceans and grow conservation-conscious communities around the world.
WOMEN IN SHARK SCIENCE
Women in Shark Science is about skills development and training for women who love sharks and science. We aim to change how women are perceived in the field of marine science and empower them to drive change. By engaging with people from around the world, this program inspires young girls to pursue their dreams and become tomorrow’s shark scientists.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Our Education & Outreach initiatives are science-based, ensuring we provide our visitors and education groups with unparalleled insight into the secret world of sharks. We pride ourselves on experiential, hands-on educational programming and offer multiple day programs for school groups and team building.
THE SHARK ACADEMY
The Shark Academy is more than just an internship or volunteer program. This is an academic field school experience specializing in connecting undergraduate students, early career scientists, conservationists and senior scientists. We focus on skills development, academic mentoring, field work, science communication and professional portfolio development. All with a focus on Africa’s diverse sharks.
RESEARCH DIVER TRAINING
The Research Diver Training Program is designed specifically for scientists, conservationists and divers who want to build their skills studying sharks above and underwater. This program combines the best of the Shark Academy scientific program with 3 PADI Distinctive Specialty courses offered by no other company in the world.
