WOMEN IN SHARK SCIENCE

A FOCUS ON WOMEN & SHARKS

Women in Shark Science is a SASC flagship program.

SASC is passionate about training young women pursuing careers in STEM. Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) remain male-dominated fields. But we are working to change how women are represented in marine science.

Each year we hold a global competition and select 7 promising young women to join our team for 1-month of focused training. In November these incredible women fly to South Africa and learn what it means to be a woman in the field.

Leading up to November, competition winners takeover our social media channel, engage with people around the world and change perceptions about sharks.

DRIVING CHANGE

Harnessing the power of women. Developing young leaders. Training tomorrow’s scientists. Driving sustainable change.

MORE ABOUT WOMEN IN SHARK SCIENCE

Women in Shark Science is about skills development and training for women who love sharks and science. We aim to change how women are perceived in the field of marine science and empower them to drive change.  By engaging with people from around the world, this program inspires young girls to pursue their dreams and become tomorrow’s shark scientists.
